Siddhartha

A part in  Siddhartha  that very much so relates to my life is when he and his father get into a verbal argument over siddartha leaving home."Siddhartha had begun to feel the seeds of his discontent within him. He had begun to feel that the love of his friend Govinda, would not always make him happy, give him peace, satisfy and suffice him."(pg 5) This quote illustrates my life in a very impactful way. The words in this quote are not explaining what Siddhartha actually feels. He feels right now in his life that he needs to get away from all his friends and family and go do what he wants to do and experience life in his own way. I feel that too alot when I am at school. I feel that not all my classes let me do what I really feel I should do.

Also another part in Siddartha that relates to my life is when he has left his family and gone to join the samanas."Siddhartha had one single goal-to become empty,to become empty of thirst, desire, dreams, pleasure and sorrow"(pg 14). I feel that this relates to my life because once when I was a kid I just felt like I had no desire for the pleasures in life. Now I feel that society has made me thirsty for those materialistic things which is not what life is about. So I actually went to the wilderness in Canada to find that place again where I had no desire the pleasures in life. I found it like siddartha had found it.

  1. You choose an interesting quote for paragraph 1, but do not connect it effectively to the point you are trying to make. For instance, your discussion describes his conflict with his father, but your quote describes his attitude toward Govinda. Paragraph 2 features in interesting life experience. Overall, this paragraph would earn a C.
