Osama bin ladden
I think that osama bin ladens death is one of the most important things that have happened in the us in a while. I think that the killing of him shows them that we can do anything that we set our minds to. We have been looking for him and we have found him. Now the us really has too look out for the retaliation of this cause their will be one. If we are able to kill him we are able to end this war. But it is also a little hard to decide if us reacting like this after will kill someone is morally right. people dancing in the streeets chanting usa is a little hard to swallow because i know that killing people is wrong. I do realize what he has done to our country but do we have to go in and kill him or cant we just send him to prison and let him rot for the rest of his life in their. after killing him it does make our efforts in iraq not go unoticed. We have accomplished something great in this war and that brings rest to all the families who were affected by 9/11. But if we keep at the war something big may happen i think that we need to pull our troops out of the war and put this war to rest. If we keep pouring money into iraq without looking at the problems of our country as it is that could be bad. The killing of osama bin laden is a great deed that our country has done but we need to look out for the retaliation.

Night and maus
Theses two books are very similiar they are both about the brutal and terrifying holocaust. Both protaganists went to auschwitz and it seemed as if they both had similiar feelings about the whole ordeal. Both characters also end up in hospitals where they are treated better and get much more food. Both Night and Maus are very similar books because both charcters have the same feeling throught the whole book, DEATH. That is the # 1 thing always on their mind. They both also share the same desire to escape free from the nazi's. At the end of the book they both also end up on the march.
Both charcters are very similar but a difference between them is their pre war history. In maus art's father is a skilled craftsman and he is also a shoe repair man and that dirasticly helps him later on throught his time with the nazi's. However in night it was very different. Elie at the time was a child and could not really get a good grip on what was coming with the nazi's. He also had to help his father throught the book and elie had no specials skills that would help him in auschwitz. He was also almost brainwashed by other jews. the other jews were telling him to abandon his father and fend for himself. Whic he did contemplate on almost doing.
I believe that night was more of a book that i liked to read about the holacaust, because i felt like maus was to childish for such a serious event that happened. Maus would be a great book for a child to read about the holocaust becasue it is not as dark as night was. I believe an adult should read night because it more realistic in how things went down.

Writing of restrepo
Fallen angles and restrepo have defianatley changed my view of life. Restrepo showed me alot more of war and what it entails than fallen agels did. It made me realize how much more I value my independence and safety and freedome because of how restrepo died. He died for me and my freedom. And all the people in the platoon give up their safety for me so I can have safety. It also made me realize how can humans fight humans it just seems wrong. We all live on earth and if their was world peace it would be a different world.

Restrepo prewrite
One comparsion that happened is the cleaning of guns in restrepo and you get the visual of it and in the book they say they do it. Another comparison is the hooches. I would just think that they were like tents because that is kind of how they described it in the book. But in restrepo their made out of wood and are alot bigger than i thought. Also in the book fallen agels you can read about the wear that war has on people but in restrepo you really see it. Like how in the interviews alot of them cry and remember what happened. Also how in restrepo everyone becomes buddies and friends and in the book you can see that as well. the connection of people at war and their families you see that alot in restrepo and the book. the guns though sounds different in the movie then the book. Also how the soldiers interact with the civilians in restrepo you really see how difficult it is to do. how the people pass the time to in the book they talk alot but in the movie they spend alot of time alone. Also how in the movie restrepo died in the helicopyer and in the book i am pretty sure brew did as well. A comparison as well is how much time people spen writing or looking at pictures of family. in the movie they look at pictures alot and in the book they write to famalies alot.

Siddhartha
A part in Siddhartha that very much so relates to my life is when he and his father get into a verbal argument over siddartha leaving home."Siddhartha had begun to feel the seeds of his discontent within him. He had begun to feel that the love of his friend Govinda, would not always make him happy, give him peace, satisfy and suffice him."(pg 5) This quote illustrates my life in a very impactful way. The words in this quote are not explaining what Siddhartha actually feels. He feels right now in his life that he needs to get away from all his friends and family and go do what he wants to do and experience life in his own way. I feel that too alot when I am at school. I feel that not all my classes let me do what I really feel I should do.
Also another part in Siddartha that relates to my life is when he has left his family and gone to join the samanas."Siddhartha had one single goal-to become empty,to become empty of thirst, desire, dreams, pleasure and sorrow"(pg 14). I feel that this relates to my life because once when I was a kid I just felt like I had no desire for the pleasures in life. Now I feel that society has made me thirsty for those materialistic things which is not what life is about. So I actually went to the wilderness in Canada to find that place again where I had no desire the pleasures in life. I found it like siddartha had found it.
